A conversation between Asia and the West presents diptychs through which a correspondence is established across landscapes, generating a dialogue articulated formally through compositions that only align partially.
Marcela Bellini delimits the frame through the articulation of the elements included in the scene, the selection of the depth of field and the light. In this way, she establishes a series of technical parameters that allow the images to present similarities despite being shot in different geographic locations.
On the other hand, the arrangement of the diptychs tends towards the search for unity, but they do not manage to fit together in an exact or perfect way, which gives us a glimpse of a division and the impossibility of adjustment.
In the dialogue between Asia and the West proposed in this photographic series, moments from tradition and modernity converge, linked through an intention of invariability reiterated by the use of black and white, low contrast, and the absence of people.
The unpopulated images evoke nostalgia and suggest a quiet contemplation of the landscape, fostering a sense of tranquility emphasized by the warmth of the light sources embedded within the art-works.
