Series

New York Oneiric is a photographic exploration of a city suspended between reality and reverie. Inspired by Paul Auster’s line, “The place is New York, the time is the present, and neither one will ever change,” from his book The New York Trilogy, this series delves into the timeless, haunting quality of New York—a place that seems at once familiar and unreachable, solid yet steeped in mystery.

The series Magical realism is an investigation of absence through the colonial environment of the picturesque town of Mompox, Colombia. The black-and-white photographs, printed on aluminum, capture emblematic spaces of this location through forged iron keyholes. The serene beauty of the Magdalena River is also part of this imposing landscape.

The series A conversation between Asia and the West consists of diptychs which establish a visual dialogue between landscapes in China and those in New York or Paris. These pairs of images share a partial correspondence that varies in size and framing disposition. Printed on canvas, the unpopulated scenes invite to a slow contemplation of the landscape.

The series Nobody in Italy, labyrinth is a tribute to my father’s surname, Bellini. Although I was born in Colombia, my photographic journey led me to Italy in search of my roots. From this fieldwork emerged Nobody in Italy, labyrinth. The diptychs encourage us to imagine a world of possibilities behind each door or window. A world of solitary paths with no end—a labyrinth printed on silk.

The Nobody in Orsomarso series captures small corners of this evocative Italian village nestled in the mountains of Calabria. These five photographs, printed on adhesive vinyl, allow absence accompanied by simplicity caress us with its magic.

The Nobody in Italy series, printed on adhesive vinyl, was created during my exploration of uninhabited places in Tuscany, Italy. The facades, the sea, the windows, the textures evoke mystery, history, beauty, and silence.

The Nobody II series takes us around the world, looking for places filled with beauty, light, and perspective. New York, Providencia Island, Tulum, Buenos Aires, Playa del Carmen, Paris. Places without people that make part of my investigation about absence. Printed on adhesive vinyl.

With the Nobody series, the adventure of capturing photographs without people began. They were the result of many travel images that, by chance, shared a common feature: they were poetic and solitary. This marked the beginning of the most important project of my life -a photographic exploration about absence and beauty-.
